How Does MTPT Differ?

Many practitioners treat trigger points. Myofascial trigger point therapy is performed by a trained Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist with the credentials of MTPT or CMTPT.

  • Training is from a program recognized by the National Association of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists, (NAMTPT).

  • A specific treatment protocol is followed to assess and treat myofascial pain & dysfunction resulting from trigger points, (TrPs).

The Protocol consists of:

  1. Thorough client history

  2. Differential Diagnosis

  3. Identifying and correcting perpetuating factors

  4. Map out client's pain

  5. Postural analysis

  6. Range of motion

  7. Apply manual techniques to eliminate the trpts

  8. Stretch dysfunctional muscles

  9. Patient education on self treatment and stretch routine
